Santa Fe

Santa Fe, New Mexico; July 2, 2016  We’ve been in Santa Fe for a week and the weather has been beautiful and the company, sublime. I made Chicken Country Captain for 12 one night and tonight we’re having Donna’s Vidalia Onion Tarte Tatin with fresh green peas and rack of lamb. Peas are just coming in here! I’ve recently become friends with Ronnie Dixon, who is the Mayor of Vidalia, and he sent us a big box of onions to serve out here at the home of my dear friend, Bessie Hanahan. We’ve met many new friends and seen old ones, including my soprano friend, Jeanne-Michele Charbonnet, and cookbook guru Cheryl Alters Jamison, who recorded a very casual interview with me on her Heating It Up radio program. Mikel had a conference here this week. Here we are at The Compound with (from left to right): me; Cynthia Delgado of Tourism Santa Fe; Jane Steele, who manages the private dining and special events for The Compound, which has been in business for 50 years; Cheryl; Bessie; and Mikel. More to come after I return home. Happy Fourth of July to everyone!
