January 12, 2016 Savannah, Ga<\/strong>: What a year 2015 was! The last month was incredibly busy for me, with my oyster knife being featured in the Washington Post, the LA Times, and the New York Times! \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In February, I’ll be joining Chef James Clark<\/a> (with whose mom, Jane McAlister, I grew up) at the Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill for an evening of local oysters, local beers, and Champagne. Mark your calendars and plan to join us for this festive event<\/a>! Enjoy a five course dinner and cooking class with Chef James and me and oyster farmer Chris Matteo from Chadwick Creek Oysters<\/a> from Bayboro, NC. The evening kicks off with a reception at 6pm on the front porch followed by dinner in an intim\"\"<\/a>ate cooking class setting led by Executive Chef James Clark and me at Crossroads Chapel Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Later this year, I plan to help Rowan Jacobsen<\/a> launch his The Essential Oyster<\/strong> book with a lowcountry oyster roast. Stay tuned!<\/p>\n

On a non-culinary note, I have spent the last day listening to my extensive collection of David Bowie music. He influenced me and others in so many ways. I’m not exactly sad, because I will always have his music to comfort me, but my heart does go out to his wife and children. My dear friend Terry Berch McNally of Philadelphia’s venerable London Grill<\/a> posted this image of Bowie at Veteran’s Stadium and it tickled me to no end. I guess he was human after all.<\/p>\n
